KitchenOS ("we", "our", or "us") operates the kitchen coordination service available at www.thekitchenos.com and via WhatsApp. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our service.

By using KitchenOS, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use KitchenOS:

WhatsApp phone number — to identify you and send messages to you
Message content — text messages and voice notes you send to KitchenOS
Profile name — your WhatsApp display name as shared by the WhatsApp platform
Grocery data — items you report as finished or low stock
Meal plan data — dishes and portions you set for your household

We do not collect any additional personal information beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide the KitchenOS service:

To process your grocery reports and update the shared household list
To send you confirmations and replies via WhatsApp
To broadcast grocery and meal plan updates to your household members
To transcribe voice notes so they can be processed

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage

Your grocery list, meal plan, and household data is stored in a secure Supabase (PostgreSQL) database. Access is restricted to members of your household through the KitchenOS service. Message content is processed in real-time and is not retained beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

5. WhatsApp Data

KitchenOS uses the WhatsApp Business API to communicate with you. By using our service, you acknowledge that your messages are processed through WhatsApp's infrastructure. 6. Third-Party Services

KitchenOS uses the following third-party services to operate:

Anthropic (Claude) — for understanding and processing messages in natural language
OpenAI (Whisper) — for transcribing voice notes to text
Supabase — for storing grocery lists, meal plans, and household data
Meta WhatsApp Business API — for sending and receiving WhatsApp messages

Each of these services operates under their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you are an active user of KitchenOS. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at privacy@thekitchenos.com. Upon request, we will delete your personal information within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
Request deletion of your personal data
Opt out of the service at any time by messaging "STOP" to our WhatsApp number
Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data transmission occurs over encrypted HTTPS connections. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

KitchenOS is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at privacy@thekitchenos.com.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify active users of any material changes by sending a message via WhatsApp. The updated policy will also be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
